10/31/16 HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you all have a fun and safe night!!
So this week was awesome :) I think the best part was Skyler's baptism. He was so excited to finally be baptized. It was a great day! He has such a sweet and simple testimony of the gospel and he is so smart. Seeing his family unite in the gospel was such a testament to me that the gospel truly does bless families. :)
Another awesome thing that happened this week was when we had dinner with one of our recent converts. His name is Ron and he is the bomb diggity:) He is in the YSA Ward and he signed up to feed us. Sister Hyde and I were so excited to eat with him because he is a chef!! He made a super yummy dinner that we had to eat in the open garage lol we can't go into a home if there is not another woman there but don't worry he had a candle on the table to make it fancy hahaha YSA kills me! It's the best :)
We also had our family wards Halloween party which was super fun! All the kids looked super cute in their fun costumes :) I think there was about 10 Harry Potter characters which made me happy because it reminded me of my mom haha
Anyways, in church on Sunday there was a homecoming for a returned missionary. She gave an amazing talk about how scary it was for her to come home. She said it was scarier than leaving for her mission. But then she talked about how in life we can't have fear and have faith. We have to put our faith forward and hope for the best! She said a lot of other awesome stuff that I can't remember hahaha but that's mostly what I took from it.
Our recent converts are doing amazing so far!! Aron is the best :) He was atheist before he was baptized and he didn't believe any of it but then he read he Book of Mormon and bam! Now he has such a solid testimony! He likes boxing and he hurt his wrist so now he has to get surgery on his wrist and he was scared so he asked a member of the YSA Ward to give him a blessing. He told us that he felt so much comfort during the blessing and he bore his testimony to us that the priesthood is real. It was amazing!
Well I am loving it here in Sacramento! I miss good ole Utah though :) Hope everyone has an awesome week. Oh ya and HAPPY BIRTHDAY GMA B :) I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU 😘
Bye!

10/24/16 11 Months

Heeyyy. So this week...it went by fast and a lot happened and I don't really remember everything hahaha sorry guys but here are the highlights.
I hit my eleven month mark! That's weird. Haha Sister Hyde and I celebrated with McDonald's YUM! I don't know what it is but I have never loved McDonald's more than I do now lol I think it is because everywhere I have lived so far had a McDonald right by it. I don't know!
Sister Hyde and I were able to go on team ups with some amazing sisters :) It really impresses me how hard the missionaries we are serving work. I'm sure every missionary works hard but being able to go work in their area with them was awesome :) They might not have a ton going on but they have the best attitudes and the best work ethic and that's what counts.
Samantha is just the most "golden" and prepared person ever. She tells us she can feel her faith growing daily when she reads and prays. She also told us that she has been given her answer that the Book of Mormon is true! I LOVE teaching her these simple truths and watching her nod her head in agreement. It's awesome!!! She is for sure getting baptized on November 12!
Also Skylar is super excited about this weekend :) So am I!!! I love me some baptisms :)
So for all my bountiful people I hope you know that amongst all the sad, confusing, heartbreaking times that the Savior is there. Stay grounded in that knowledge! Nothing good will come from distancing yourself from the only one who can truly heal, guide, and comfort you. I love you all!
Well that is all :) Enjoy the pictures! Have a great week and don't forget to do the little things :)
Love ya!!
Sister Hyde and I decided facial masks would be a good idea.......hahahaha
we should have videoed us ripping them off it was hilarious an painful
and horrible in every way

We carved pumpkins to day and i guess I was feeling a little homesick

10/17/16 Holy Craziness

Holy Smokes this week has been crazy! So much has happened :) Sister Hyde and I are crazy busy! Being busy as a missionary is awesome but it definitely makes time go faster which is kind of sad. We are now halfway done with this transfer. I'm almost a year and sister Hyde is almost a gonner...but we are enjoying everyday as if it was our last!
So to start this off the missionaries that have been in this area before were amazing and they had a lot of cool people to teach but unfortunately those people just weren't progressing and now that sister Hyde and I are here we had to make the really hard decision to let some people go. They just aren't quite ready yet. Dropping people is the worst let me just tell ya! But this is the Lords work after all so we both knew that if we put our trust in the Lord and continued to work diligently that we would see miracles. And boy did we!! We got this referral Samantha from some of the elders. So we went over and met her, taught her the restoration and it was amazing! Then we met the next day and taught the plan of salvation and invited her to be baptized. She said yes!! Then the next lesson when we taught the gospel of Jesus Christ we extended her s date of November 12 and she is super excited!! Samantha is so prepared. She already knew all of the things we have taught her she just needed to feel the spirit, she just needed to be reminded. The best part is that the YSA Ward had a ladies night activity and she went and met everyone which made her even more excited to come to church. Turns out she actually went to highschool with a lot of the Ward members and already knew a lot of them. :) She loved church and told everyone that she was going to be baptized!!!
But don't worry brothers and sisters there is more! There is a part member family in our family Ward. Parents are both members and so are the kids except for one because he was just waiting for permission from his birth dad to be baptized and he got it!! One night we both felt like we needed to go visit the family and when sister Harris opened the door she said "oh good! So Skylars dad said he could be baptized so you need to finish teaching him. Also my parents are coming from Utah in 3 weeks so we want him to be baptized on the 29th." We were both in shock. Hahaha best news a missionary could ever hear from a part member family. The only issue was that Skylar was going to be at his dads all next week so we would have to have his interview and finish his lessons in like 2 days.  So we taught him as much as we could and he was interviewed yesterday!! Our district leader said he was really impressed in how much Skylar knew at such a young age. (He is 10) So Skylar is set for baptism on the 29th of this month!!!!!
I can testify that Heavenly Father really does love all his missionaries and that this is his work.
In other news it has rained the past 2 days all day and it's the best. I am so sick of California heat lol I miss the Utah snow! Well enjoy the pictures and videos :) Sister Hyde and I are having too much fun!! Pray for Samantha and Skylar :) love you all have a great week!!!

10/10/16

Hey! Ok so this week is kind of a blur haha so much happened so I'll do my best to summarize :) To start of sister Hyde and I got to go to a mission leadership council (MLC) on Tuesday. It was amazing!!!! All the other stls and zone leaders in the mission were there and the APs and President and Sister Jardine gave some trainings and then we discussed what the baptism goal for October should be. It was a really spiritual experience as we all shared our thoughts and impressions. We came up with the goal of 25 baptisms for this month. I am super excited for that goal :) I know that we can hit it!! After that we had a training about love and charity. We did this fun role play where we formed two lines facing each other and we, all at the same time, had to compliment the person across from us in like 20 seconds. We had to make sure the compliments fell under the categories of attitude, work ethic, obedience, and knowledge. Then we had to rotate. Kind of like speed dating haha. It was really cool because a lot of the compliments I was given were things I though I was weakest at like knowledge... The point was that if we have love and charity for each other and for people we meet just for everyone, then everything else will fall into place and our goals will be hit. We ended it with the scripture in Mathew 22:36-39 ❤️️
Then we had zone training which is where sister Hyde and I got together with the zone leaders and took what we learned from MLC and put together our own training for our zone. It ended up being awesome and I think each member of the zone felt loved and happy which made us all feel more unified. I just love being a missionary!!!
Another fun thing happened is week! I got to go on exchanges with Sister Davis!!! I love that girl so much. She is such a hard worker and a good teacher. We had fun :) Sister Hyde went to east sac with sister Lalomanu :)
Then on Sunday our recent convert Ron from the YSA Ward got the priesthood!! Yay :) He is so awesome I can't even tell ya!
It was my very first time going to a YSA Ward lol it felt so weird to me but it was way fun and I am just super pumped to be here! We also cover a home Ward. The fair oaks third Ward and I found out one of my dads cousins is in the Ward! Small world :)
Anywho this week was great and I can't wait for the next one!! Time is a flyin... it's freaking me out lol
Love you all! Have a great week! Oh ya and happy birthday uncle Dallin! How old are you...like 50 by now right? ;) love you!!

10/03/2016

So to start off my mom told me that people are confused about what an STL is haha sorry sometimes I forget people who aren't missionaries don't know mission lingo my bad! So basically STL stands for sister training leader. Sister Hyde and I have been given 3 amazing companionships of sisters to serve, help, and love. As sister training leaders we go on exchanges with those sisters and we basically just get to know them and help them with whatever they need physically, spiritually, mentally you name it! So we are more like sister training servants :) So far it has been fun! The only major differences is there are more meetings and we call President Jardine a lot haha We also get to go to the mission leadership council (MLC) with the zone leaders and APs and president and sister Jardine of course, to make goals for the months and year and also to discuss what the needs of the individual missionaries are. I am really excited and also humbled because let's be honest I'm so under qualified for this job. But whom the Lord calls he qualifies and I have 100% faith in that.
Anyways this week has been really busy. Like insanely busy!! Between meetings and teaching appointments and General conference we have barley found time to eat haha JK we eat plenty but it seems like the days are going by faster because we have so much to do. I am absolutely loving the YSA Ward so far! We also cover a family Ward :) I like having two wards again! So much work to be done :) The most frustrating thing with YSA so far is addiction. Like real serious addictions that are way hard to overcome. Just don't do drugs kids. But I am excited to see the atonement in action as sister Hyde and I do all we can to help these spirit brothers and sisters of ours.
It was truly a blessing to be able to watch conference his weekend. Conference time is my favorite time of the year!! There were so many amazing talks but the ones that I loved the most were the ones that talked about Joy. What a happy and awesome word! Following the gospel path is the best and really only way to find true happiness and joy in a world so full of wickedness. I hope each of you enjoyed watching General conference and felt the spirit as you did. Not going to lie it made me a little homesick not watching conference in my pjs with my fam haha one more conference and then it's back to pjs and lazy conference weekend :) #nottrunky
Ok well I love each of you so much and I miss you all lots and lots. Have a good weekend! Send me pics of the snowy mountains!!!!! I miss seeing them! Say your prayers and read your scriptures:)
Love,
Sister Harley Munk
Ps be sure to participate in my fb post about conference. I'm going to ask a question so answer it! Let's see if we can start some awesome gospel discussions with our friends and family. MISSIONARY WORK ROCKS!!!

9/27/2016 And a transfer

Ok so first off I just have to say thank you to everyone for all the sweet birthday emails and posts on Facebook. I felt very blessed! I may not have time to reply to all of your emails so don't be offended if I don't... I really appreciated it though!!! My birthday was fun :) Not having my family there was hard but Sister Kaufusi and I made the best out of it!
So Hermana Vergary went home last weekend so that meant that Hermana Nokes was in a trio with sister Kaufusi and I. It was so fun!! I love Hermana Nokes with all my heart :) This week has been seriously nuts so I am sorry if this email is the worst haha but I took like 1000 pictures so that should explain how the week went!

To start off I had to get a flu shot.
Then we did service as a zone.
We went to the American river and cleaned up garbage.
It was fun but the whole time I was missing the beautiful
Utah mountains. Rivers and lakes aren't as pretty
when there is no mountains behind them.
See what I mean?
Then we had our last district meeting of the
transfer Best district EVER!
Best looking Zone in all of California!!

9/19/2016 TEN MONTHS

Hello everyone! Hope your week was awesome :) Our week was pretty awesome even though the work is still slow going. Sister Kaufusi hit her 3 month mark and I hit my 10 month mark. Time seriously needs to slow down! There isn't a whole lot to say today haha but I have a whole bunch of pictures for y'all:) I love you all and miss you tons!
Here is something I read today from the Book of Mormon that I liked it's in 1 Nephi 19:23 "And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning." I have come to LOVE the scriptures on my mission. My favorite thing to do while I am reading is to 'liken' the scriptures to myself and my investigators. The scriptures really are for our profit and learning :) Well, sorry this is short! Enjoy the pictures! Oh ya and transfers are this weekend so I will be emailing on Tuesday :) love you all.
Love,
Sister Harley Munk
